Group of scientists pledges support for GM crop research

(Sept. 3, 2001 – CropChoice news) – Scientists from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan pledged to continue their work on transgenic crops. More than 50 scientists attending an agriculture conference agreed with the idea that the use of biotechnology in agriculture could feed the developing world and reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Conference attendees came from Beijing University, the China Academy of Sciences and most local universities.
