Percy Schmeiser ready to go with appeal, but still needs money (May 23, 2001 -- CropChoice news) -- Canadian farmer Percy Schmeiser told CropChoice that he's appealing, but that to do it effectively, he needs more money.
In March, the Federal Court of Canada ruled that Schmeiser had infringed the patent on Monsanto's Roundup Ready canola simply because the herbicide-resistant variety was on his land. How it got there was unimportant to the judge, who today signed the judgement.
