Canadian Wheat Board fears market losses over transgenic wheat

(Oct. 31, 2001 – CropChoice news) – The Canadian Wheat Board is concerned that export markets opposed to genetically modified wheat will shop elsewhere if strict regulations to deal with the wheat are not in place by the time that Monsanto, with the help of the Canadian government, introduces it in the next few years. The Government said that any moves to block the Roundup-resistant wheat or any agricultural product must be based on science.
