U.S. losing patience with European transgenic moratorium

(Dec. 13, 2001 – CropChoice news) – U.S. patience with the European Union ban on transgenics is wearing thin and the possibility of a showdown at the World Trade Organizatioin is growing, according to U.S. officials.

But approving and implementing the strict labeling and traceability requirements upon which several EU member states insist, plus the possibility of a liability provision, will require at least two years.
