Toxic waste as fertilizer? (Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 – CropChoice news) -- The good news is we have discovered a profitable way to dispose of our toxic wastes. The bad news is we call it “fertilizer” and sell it to the farmers who grow our food!
This Saturday at 9AM Pacific, the Food Chain with Michael Olson hosts Seattle Times writer Duff Wilson for a conversation about how the nation’s toxic wastes have become the nation’s fertilizers.

Topics will include how a small town mayor in Washington uncovered a nation-wide practice of recycling toxic wastes into farmers’ fields; the story of how Seattle Times writer Duff Wilson published this story; and whether the practice of recycling toxic wastes as fertilizers should, or should not, continue.
Listeners are invited to call the live program on KFRM, KGOE, KMPH, KOMY, or KSCO with questions and comments at 800-624-2665.
