Monsanto shifts strategy on biotech wheat

(July 31, 2002 -- CropChoice news) -- In addition to backing away from its previous date of 2005 for the introduction of genetically engineered wheat, Monsanto announced that it will work on including better taste and nutrition in the product. The idea is to persuade the major world markets -- Europe and Japan -- to accept the wheat that Monsanto has genetically altered to resist the herbicide Roundup.
