China launches biotechnology regulations

(June 6, 2001 –CropChoice news) – China launched new regulations that will require permits for sales of transgenic seeds, seedlings or animals, labels on such products, and approval for foreign companies to conduct research and tests, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

Under the regulations, the government can reject or destroy imports of genetically modified products without proper documentation.
