Much of 2000 Korean import rejections due to transgenic corn (March 27, 2001 --Cropchoice news)-- Ninety-nine percent of the agricultural imports that Korean customs authorities rejected last year was U.S. corn featuring transgenic StarLink, according to the Korea Food and Drug Administration. That percentage amounted to more than 50,000 tons of corn. StarLink has not received U.S. government approval for human consumption, yet it ended up in the food supply last year. This prompted food recalls. The Korea Corn Processing Industry Association plans to file a damage claim against Aventis CropScience, the developer of StarLink.
