Monsanto admits possible presence of unapproved organism in its GM canola

(April 15, 2002 – CropChoice news) – Monsanto Co. reported today that the genetically modified organism – GT 200 – found last year in its transgenic canola seed in Canada may also be present in U.S. canola seed stocks.

Problem is, GT 200 has never received government approval. But rather than ordering a massive recall of food products that contain canola, usually in the form of oil, Monsanto wants federal regulators to forgive any presence of the organism.
