When big boxes take over the town
(Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 -- CropChoice news) -- From a news release:
If it is true that Wal-Mart is a great American success story, then why do so many Americans think it is a plague upon the land?
This Saturday at 9AM Pacific, the Food Chain with Michael Olson hosts authors Al Norman (“Slam-Dunking Wal-Mart”) and Bill Quinn (“How Wal-Mart is Destroying America”) for a conversation about the big box in little towns. Note: Wal-Mart has declined to participate because it is “too busy!”
( Listen at the all-new http://www.metrofarm.com )
Topics will include how Wal-Mart gets permission to do business in small towns; what happens to small towns when Wal-Mart opens for business; and what small-town individuals and groups do to resist Wal-Mart.
Listeners are invited to call the program on KFRM, KGET, KGOE, KMPH, KNTK, KOMY, KSCO, KTIP, KVON or TRUTH RADIO with questions and comments, or log them to the Forum page at www.metrofarm.com.
