Monsanto asks Canada's gov't to approve transgenic alfalfa

(Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 -- CropChoice news) -- Monsanto Co. last week asked the government of Canada to approve its transgenic alfalfa as environmentally safe, and suitable for livestock feed and food use. The company genetically engineered the alfalfa to resist glyphosate herbicide, the active ingredient in RoundUp.
