Brazil's GMO situation still up in the air

(Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003 -- CropChoice news) -- Roger Bernard, AgWeb:

Early Wednesday, it appeared the government of Brazil was ready to come forth with the decree which would allow planting of GMOs in Brazil. That's what most reports were saying on Wednesday. But this morning, the Wall Street Journal reports that the country's vice president later Wednesday backed away from signing the decree, saying the matter needed more study. This puts their GMO situation back into the questionable area for now. No doubt they will eventually implement the decree, but it's interesting that apparently few have picked up on what some reports say is a delay in signing of the decree.
