UK move to protect organic farmers?

(Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 -- CropChoice news) -- UK Environment Minister Michael Meacher said the government may take action to hold the purveyors of biotechnology liable for genetic contamination of organic crops.

Reuters quoted him as saying: "Our approach to GM must be compatible with the government's ambitions for the expansion of organic farming to increase the UK's market share of organic produce sold in the UK from 30 percent to 70 percent."
