Turning boys into girls

(Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 -- CropChoice news) -- To know what may happen up here at the top of the food chain, it helps to look at what is happening near the bottom. And when Dr. Tyrone Hayes looked at amphibians, he saw boys being turned into girls!

This Saturday at 9AM Pacific, the Food Chain with Michael Olson hosts UC Berkeley Biology Professor Dr. Tyrone Hays for a conversation about how a popular agricultural chemical appears to be changing with the reproductive cycle of amphibians.

Topics will include how Dr. Hayes discovered the link between the reproductive difficulties of amphibians and a popular agricultural chemical; the consequences of his reporting these findings; and what impact these findings might have on those of us who live near the top of the food chain.

Listeners are invited to call the live program on KFRM, KSCO, KOMY, KGOE and KMPH with questions and comments at 800-624-2665.
