Mexican researchers may have confirmed flow of biotech corn genes into native varieties

(Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 -- CropChoice news) -- Scientists at Mexico's National Institute of Ecology say that research they've completed may have confirmed studies last year that found material from genetically engineered corn in native Mexican maize.

University of California at Berkeley researchers Ignacio Chapela and David Quist were the subject of attack from supporters of agricultural biotechnology last year after the journal Nature published their research on the matter.
