Sri Lanka bends to will of United States on GM foods

(Sept 1, 2001 – CropChoice news) – The government of Sri Lanka indefinitely postponed its regulation banning the importation of food with any transgenic content. Under heavy pressure from the U.S. ambassador, the Sri Lanka minister of health shelved the regulation, which was slated to go into effect today after having already been postponed once.
